Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In all honesty, because her bike is taking a while to finish, I have not been saying much to her at all about cycling. But, ever since we all went for some rides together with the kids in the trailer, she has expressed more self-interest.
She likes how it was a good workout climbing the hills by our house. And she was just riding my cheapy MTB at the time. I told her, her new roadie will be much funner. I think she really wants to get into it, but is just being patient for me to finish the bike, and for the weather to get a little better.
I am still painting the bike, but it will be done in a month, hopefully. Time is always something I need to find in order to work on these things.
At least now she has a full summer kit, ready to go. That stars and stripes jersey looks pretty cute on her. I didn't think she want something so "WOW". I figured she would get some bland soft plain light blue colored jersey or something. Then she walks up to me with this wild Red, White, and Blue spectacle of patriotic design. She says, "What do ya think?"
Being "Patriot", you can imagine my response.

Patriot, I have to say it........I hope she likes riding the bike as much as she likes spending (saving?) money on the bike paraphenalia. My wife loves to buy new jersey's but she has not been on the bike in over a year. Good luck and congratulations.

She does like to ride. She has been riding my MTB, but she says it is kind of heavy, and sluggish. So, the road bike will suit her just fine. The real problem is finding the time. Right now, weekends are pretty much the only time we get together since we both work, and we both watch the kids. I'm glad I got a trailer.

NICE. We are looking for a good trailer ourselves (suggestions welcome). My wife swears that is why she has not been on her bike (we have a 16 month old girl). I hope that we can at least do some casual family rides and get her interest sparked again. She used to kick butt on Phoenix's national trail but the baby really put the brakes on her riding.

Sounds like the Performance coupon worked exactly as Performance hoped it would.

Somebody take me to a bike shop! I'm tired of paying for all this stuff myself! And I'm a girl. Did I take a wrong turn some where?
