Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which groupset?

I was defaulting to sram red 22 from my experience with pre-2012 red.

I have read a bunch about how awesome dura ace 9000 is which has me intrigued.

I like the exact actuation of red. I have had dura ace 7800 and di2 7900. Don't want to go back to electronic as I don't feel the cost is worth it.

I unfortunately have no one around me to try out either.

Campy is out of the question as no wheels for it.

Sounds like you'd be happy with the Dura Ace 9000,I've heard nothing but good things about it,but Sram Red is good too.

Nuevo Record FTW.

All the rest of this crap is wasted nonsense.

And get off my lawn.

You have had pre-2012 Red, 7800 and 7900Di2?

At the rate you go through groupsets I think you will get a chance to try 9000 and Red22 and still catch Campy before they go to 12.

I voted before I read your post. I have used Campy for many years so that is my preference. Have never tried SRM but would like to give it a try. Shimano is good stuff. I would love to have Shimano electronic.

Campy may not be out of the question.

I wouldn't bet my life, but allegedly the cog spacing is the same for 11speed Campagnolo and Shimano 11speed.

If I'm wrong I'm sure you will all beat me down for being wrong, but...

Don't delude yourself, 105, Apex, or Centaur will work just as well and you'll save a he11 of a lot of money.

If you are going 11 speed, then get Campy and use your Shimano 11 wheels & cassette.

Bikes: Super Cheap gc3 approved Bike

I'd go with 105 though. If have to have 11 then Ultrega. I'd be curious why you need Dura-Ace. And I'd be curious why you need weight savings over the superior shifting and reliability of Dura-Ace. But whatever, whatever makes you happy.

God gave us 10 fingers and 10 toes. It took technology a while to catch up. 11 is the work of the devil.

It's close enough to work, but it's about 1mm off in total, so it's not quite as smooth.

Interesting that you plop Apex with 105 and Centaur, when there exist several below that in Shimano's and Campagnolo's line up.

The cog spacing on all 11sp groups are close enough, so you *could* go Campy using a Shimano or SRAM 11sp cassette. You didn't really give us enough info to make a recommendation: Are you buying a full groupset or just the relevant 11sp parts? Are you buying new or used?

Looking at new groupsets Ultegra Di2 6870 is the same price as DA 9000 ($1300) and I'd rather be on Di2. Chorus 11sp is $1200. As others have mentioned Ultegra 6800 is totally the best bang for the buck out there right now at $700. Maybe put the $600 price difference towards some sweet new wheels?

OR

Just get a Force 22 front derailleur and enjoy the benefits of YAW shifting without moving to 11sp.

very true... could go Campy with Shimano / SRAM 11 speed cassette. it would probably be cheaper too. those Campy cassettes are $ $ $ $

Time to add Campy Super Record into the Poll?

btw.. I love Dura Ace 9000. Shifting is awesome. Best braking feel / power I've had on a road bike.

Yeah, the Red/Force 22 front derailleurs work perfectly with SRAM's 10sp groups and it makes for a big improvement. I only mentioned it because the OP implied that he was coming from 10sp Red.

I misread what you wrote, and thought you were saying buy Force 22 instead of going 11speed.
