Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Handelbar and Bar-Ends size question.

Last year I rebuilt my touring bike. The bike was over 20 years old the Bar-End shifters were rusted into the handlebars. I decided to buy new hadlebars and try some Brake index shifters.(To be honest he only thing to remained of the old bike was the frame - which was a good frame)

Overall I have been very happy with my bike, but I miss the control of my bar end shifter. Plus Bar-Ends seem easier for me to adjust and maintain. I bought some nice Dia-Compe silver Bar End Shifters - and they don't fit into my hadlebars! - They will fit into hadlebars of OTHER bikes but not into the hadlebars I bought last lear.

Is there a size specification I should be looking for when I buy a new set of hadlebars for my Bar-End shifters?. Luckily the Hadlebars were one of the least expensive items I bought for the bike, so I don't feel too bad abut losing them.

Thanks
MB

this ^^^^ is probably the problem. i buy inexpensive things from time to time and i have found that their is a much higher probability that they will not conform to the informal standards, like the ID of road handlebars, that more main line products do.
