Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Guys, guys, guys. The chain is painfully crossed on the inner ring and the small cog. WTF? Obviously ridden / owned by an imbecile, whatever the cost. Steer clear of this bike.

Are you serious? Maybe the chains being shifted in those gears so the pictures can show better? Don't know. Thanks for the advise (though not sure you're being serious or not).

Anyone else? Thanks.

Wow, 30 cents on the dollar is FREAKING DEAL on those awesome bikes!
I saw that you were not in the same town.... thus suggesting the seller provide a bit of additional assistance on all their end.

I would ask the seller to take it back to the shop he purchased it from/or works with and have them do a purchase inspection for you. Then all you have to do is contact them on the phone before putting in your bid to buy.

If I was not mechanically inclined and I was buying a really nice expensive used bike, I would take it to a shop after I got it and have them give it a once over/tune up even if that cost me another $100-150.

Well yes it was mostly intended as a humorous comment. Although there's no reason for the bike to ever be in that gear and it certainly doesn't make it show better, quite the opposite. The derailleur is so folded up you can't even see the cage. As I hope you're aware, bicycle drivetrains should never be cross chained small ring / smallest cog or big ring / largest cog. Makes me think the current owner doesn't know what they're doing. This could be good - they bought it on whim, barely used it and now realize they don't like cycling; or bad - they've been cross chaining and mis-shifting the hell out of the drivetrain. It's probably the former.
