Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Quick question RE: CAAD 10. Please help

I have an opportunity to buy a 2011 CAAD10 w/ 105 for $700. What do you guys think? Good deal or no good deal?

Yup - that's a deal at the discounted price (assuming it fits and everything is on the 'up and up').

Thanks!! Any major difference from 2011 to the latest CAAD10 105? Other than color and cosmetics...?

Bikes: 2017 Ridley Noah SL - Candy Apple DA9000, 2011 CAAD10 Berzerker Ult6800, 2013 FOCUS Mares CX Ult6800

Very good buying at that price.

A mate of mine just picked up a Mickey-Mouse 2011 CAAD10 1 (DA7900) over here for $1500 - I could almost kill him!

You'll love the bike mate.

cheers

Edit- seller bumped it to 1k, must have read some of the comments here.
Still worth 1k.

I thought it was listed for 1k and the OP had negotiated the seller down to $700. I agree, not a bad buy at 1k, but at $700 the OP should be in this guy's driveway already.

Exactly right! Couldn't get off of work early enough. I'm meeting him on Saturday.

don't get pushy, but it's Wednesday night, you agreed to meet Saturday and pay $700, between now and then if he gets a better offer, you may be out my friend. Trust me when I tell you, great deals on CAAD10's don't pop up all the time. I would say do what you have to do to get this bike.

It's hard not to be pushy. I insisted on picking it up tonight but he said it's his wife's bday and couldn't. He said to come by on Saturday because it's his only day off. I will push to pick it up tomorrow.

WOW. why are people selling such a nice bike so low. Its not like the bike is in Alaska in December. I'm trying to buy a CAAD 10 to replace my 2.1 Madone which is about to put to me sleep when I ride it. All the team colors are sold out in my size.

50 or 52. Dealer does not have a date for new arrivals for team colors. Black and gray you can you any time.

Very nice! Brake pads and tires would make a difference. Wheels too, if your budget allows.

I wouldn't. The R500 are good wheels, they stay true and are durable. They roll well, aren't that heavy, the freehub is quiet, the aero spokes are nice touch, the spoke count is good. I'd wear them out and then get better wheels.

More you ride, faster you can wear out the wheels and buy new ones! So no, I'd save your money and just ride it as much as you can until you have to replace them.

Some on BF, cycling gives them pleasure. Then others, upgrading and spending money on their bike gives them pleasure. Which will you be? There is nothing wrong with the R500, they are good wheels. My impression of BF members, the ones who ride the most and enjoy, often aren't the big spenders, they ride steel and alloy rims. Some of the big spenders, ride less than 20 miles a week.

Which will you be?

Ride it first, then determine whether you need to upgrade after that - you may be pleasantly surprised with how it rolls 'as is.'

Congrats on the purchase.

cheers

99% sure it'd stolen. Guy could easily get a lot more in LA on Craigslist but probably in a hurry to make a quick sale

Yeah 700 seems like something is not up to par, unless the seller has no idea how to price a bike to his/her advantage. But you never know maybe the seller is rich and has money to spare.
