Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shoes and saddle height

Hello,

I am looking for some feedback before I spent another $xxx on another fit.
I got a fit done last year and at that time I was wearing Sidi Ergo Carbon shoes, I had to change my shoes because of the narrow toe box of the Sidis. I purchased the Shimano r170. I managed to place my cleats like they were on the Sidis, pretty much all the way back. My question is, should I lower or higher my saddle to compensate for the sole thickness difference between the sidi and shimano?

Thanks

I wear Sidi 6.6 and Ergo 2 in the summer and Shimanos in the fall and winter (due to heavier wool socks in the fall and winter), and I lower my saddle slightly with the Sidis.

If you know what the difference in effective sole difference is, by all means RAISE your saddle by that amount when wearing the taller shoes.

+1. Anything that affects the total stack height needs to be compensated for. Different pedals also may also different. Also, if you change footbeds you can also change the overall stack height if the new footbeds are thinner or thicker than the old ones.

Stupid question I know but we're does one get the stack information?
i read the shimano r170 had the thinnest carbon sole so I thought I needed to lower the saddle.
