I have a Giro Air Attack it is awesome looks good in black and its real light and venting is good too .

I have a white one and under 18 mph it is hot, faster it stays cooler. I don't wear it if it is over 90 degrees. The visor isn't a factor one way or another.

I have the Air Attack (no visor) and the Aeon...

Picked up the Air Attack because I got it on the silly cheap from Chainlove for $80. Couldn't pass it up at that price.

Now...-vs- my Aeon? Well...it depends. I'll come out and say it...the AT is in no way as light as the Aeon...no way, no how. I don't care what a scale says...I care how it feels. It just doesn't sit as light as the Aeon does...which literally almost feels like wearing nothing.

I also couldn't care less about air flow claims. 90+ degrees with super high humidity? yeah...not reaching for the AT. No mater how you look at it, the AT just doesn't flow as well.

Now...with that said, it is very comfortable and works very well in cooler temps. 70 degrees outside? You're golden in a AT. 35 degrees outside? You're in luck, couple of well places strips of masking tape and POOF! The AT is almost air free (I have a white AT and white masking tape actually blends right in). Another huge perk of the AT is that it is much more quiet than the Aeon when riding. The Aeon makes this constant roaring noise...almost like a car coming up on you from behind. I'm used to it at this point, but when I first got the Aeon it messed with me big time. The AT is pretty darn quiet.

I'm glad I got the AT...it serves a purpose for sure...its just not a one-for-one replacement of the Aeon in any way...

I have one. Can't say I've noticed my head getting hot or anything, cool enough for me.

I have the shield in black. I don't have any complaints about thermal properties. The shield does however always cause air to be sucked in behind it and causes my eyes to water no matter what the temperature. My Tifosi glasses do not cause my eyes to water. Just when the shield is covered in eye water the sweat begins to pour down the inside of the shield making it useless.

I have the white one and love the helmet, though I rarely ever use the shield. I prefer the look of the helmet with sunglasses. It's not as warm as people are saying, I think most of that is mental. I wear it in the Southeast in summer.

Another newbie resurrects another zombie thread. Before today, the last post was in May of 2014

Snowflake6 06-17-15 07:50 PM

If it wasn't him, it might have been me two days later. I'm in the market for a new helm and am liking the looks of the Air Attack Shield. Legacy threads are here for this reason. The alternative is the newbie posts a new thread asking for reviews of the AAS, and thirty geriatric *ssholes reply "use the search button".

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

People who btch will always btch, it doesn't matter. It goes back to the story of the frog and the scorpion, it's in their nature.

Have the visor version but haven't used the visors. I like my sunglasses.

Do I feel faster? I just feel it. I'm not sure if I'm actually fast.

I like it. Earlier someone in our group ride was riding the Bell Star Pro w/ visor and it was god-awful ugly.

I have the shield version - it's my winter riding helmet.... that says something about it's ventilation capabilities.

skip the air attack and get the synthe. Best of both worlds.

Not sure that I understand. I own both and the two don't really relate. The Synthe is super light and comfortable and what I wear 90% of the time but I have no complaints against the Attack except for looks.

If any one wants a large Attack in black, we can deal.

Just get a helmet cover. It doesn't look any more corny and it would be cheaper.

The Synthe was supposed to be Giro's answer to people who wanted an aero helmet but still wanted some ventilation getting to their heads.
