rain jacket
Hello,
In my country, is winter right now. Well, in here, winter is not about snow and cold, is more about rain. Lots of rain. So, as a beginer road cyclist, I need to get a waterproof jacket. I went today to the sports store, and found an under armour running jacket. I dont know if is a good idea to buy it. I usually run at least one time a week, and if I buy it, I can use it for booth sports. But, is a "running jacket" (according to the label). So, is a good idea using it for cycling? I dont want to buy two (one for run, another one for cycle) right now.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.

As long as it has enough (waterproof) pockets to hold the stuff you usually have on a ride, it'll work. You'll probably want a cycling jacket to fit closer than a running jacket would, so you may have to compromise there, but it'll be fine.

Cycling rain jackets tend to have a longer back, to cover the riding position. If only getting one jacket, I would get a cycling rain jacket over a running rain jacket.

It doesn't have to be cycling specific to work. Cycling specific clothing does have advantages such as pocket placement, and a cut specific to a riding position, etc. When it comes to wet or cold weather, I look to clothing other than cycling specific items regularly as they seem to work well for me and generally don't cost as much. Don't be put off simply because it is for running. If it works for you, then go for it.

I love this jacket: Amazon.com : Louis Garneau 2013 Men's Electra 2 Cycling Jacket - 1030116 (Bright Yellow - L) : Cold Weather Cycling Jackets : Clothing
It converts to a vest pretty easily. It's heavy enough but not too heavy. For colder days you can wear something heavier underneath. It has good vents for warmer days. Very versatile. I'm sure it would work well for running too.

Check the sale pages at competitivecyclist.com. They have some decent deals on jackets right now.
