Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized S-Works 05 : frame size question

Hello all,

I plan to buy the spec S-Works E5 05 Frameset. However I am not sure about the ideal frame size for me. I cannot try one as my bike dealer doesn't stock this frameset (or even a S-WORKS bike).

I am quite short : 1m 65 with an inseam of 75cm. I am thinking about the 52cm size S-Works. Can anyone with the same inseam (or close by) confirm that would be the right frame size for me ?

Regards

Well, a 54cm fits me and I have a longer inseam than you.. 32 inches (about 81cm). Judging by the standover height, I would say the 52 would be best. The 50 seems too small. However, I'm not sure I'd buy such an expensive frameset sight-unseen without a test ride of any kind. I'd see if they have an Allez Comp or Elite in stock. It has a 734mm standover height (slightly higher) but the same angles and top tube measurement. If the Allez fits you fine, then you should be good to go with the E5.

Thanks for your answer.

The fact is that the SPE dealers close to my house don't carry any road bikes from Specialized : they have MTBs but they don't want to carry SPE road bikes because they sell too few (I am from europe).

any particular reason why you have your heart set on the E5? You might want to look into some other manufacturers whose bikes you can actually RIDE, you know?

I bought last year a MTB from specialized and I am very pleased with it : light, stiff (I am racing) and overall top quality for not such a big price. I am pretty well confident about the quality of the E5 S-works and the price is really great for a such a nice frame.

regards
