First Road Bike, Good Deal? v. Trek

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First Road Bike, Good Deal? v. Trek

Been researching bikes alot the past week and browsing craigslist as well for any deals.

The past year or so I've been using my roomates Trek 2.1 to commute to work (5 mi one way) and for more recreational rides in the 15-30 mi range.
I'm moving in August (will be 9 mi away from work now) so it's time to grab my own bike and came across this deal which a couple friends have said is a decent deal.

Trek Madone 3.1 - Southern California. Orange County, Los Angeles County and Riverside County cyclists prefer Jax Bicycles!

Madone 3.1 2014 closeout for $1299. There's also a Trek summer sale which would give me $100 credit towards accessories as I want clipless pedals which my roomate has on his bike.

Out the door it would be $1403 for the bike + Shimano SPD-SL pedals (with the $100 credit).

Seemed like a really good deal for the bike not to mention getting store credit on top of it, wanted to see what more experienced people thought though.
