A-hole drivers on the road?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Also from NorCal and agree with Wallrat. Most drivers are fine. There are always going to be some distracted ones which you have to watch out for whether you're on a bike in a car or walking (in my case they seem to be minivans on the bike and Camerys while driving ). There are a smaller minority that actively go out of the way to antagonize cyclists. I will tend to yell something (similar to what I do when I drive) is someone appears to deliberately cut me off but let it go at that.

And I wonder how many of the drivers that are anticycle are ones that have been cut off by a bike like the dope I saw yesterday who passed me on my right while I was stopped (with some cars) at a left turn lane, and made a u-turn against the red light at probably 10-15mph. Had the left turn signal changed for the traffic waiting to turn in front of me (which it did shortly after he went through) it would have been a bad situation for him or someone (rightfully) yelling at him for being an idiot..which he was. There are jerk cyclists just like there are jerk motorists...the jerk cyclists are just less likely to kill someone

I live in a rural area here, it is nice I can ride 30+ miles at 8-10am and maybe share the road with a total of four cars the whole ride :-).

Small world. I lived in Toledo for 2 years. I had mostly good riding experiences there because I lived close to the University of Toledo and I could take the bike path out to country roads. I did have one memorably bad experience there, though. I was stopped at a red light behind a car and the driver tried to brake check me 2 or 3 times, and then just stopped while the light was still green. I just waited and eventually he sped off. I was younger and more aggressive back then, so I'm surprised I handled it that way.

I used to ride from Swanton and pick up that trail on King road and ride to UT, then meet friends and ride out to Raab road (back towards Swanton) then ride home.

I moved out near Bryan, OH in 2003...and the last I rode that UT trail was probably 1995 ?? It was some of the most dangerous riding I have ever done really with the pedestrians, pets, and roller bladers, many of whom had no respect for the white center line in the trail :-).

Yea, the only time I've ever been on the trail was late November, when it was quite desolate. I won't ride trails if they are even remotely busy.

I'm sure when it is empty it is totally awesome, the West end of out by Kind road was pretty empty a lot of the time, but once you hit Wildwood it got insane sometimes.
