Four bean burritos from Taco Hell usually gives me the extra propulsion out the back end.

Mark77 04-01-05 01:20 AM

A long, very steep hill.

That and some matches.

I can regularly hit 40+mph going down hills. All you do is go into your top gear(usually 53-11) and pedal as you go down till you are going as fast as you want to go.

my58vw 04-01-05 02:08 AM

40 MPH ... about 5 years of racing and quads the size of well...

forum*rider 04-01-05 02:14 AM

oh, does he mean on flat gorund?

khuon 04-01-05 02:55 AM

A leadout can help get you to 40MPH in a flat sprint... you still need to be a pretty powerful rider though.

40 mph is not hard to hit if you're drafting a truck. I was doing 37 yesterday, and I wasn't even working. I had to tap the brakes a few times to maintain a safe distance. The trick is to find a truck that accelerates slowly away from a traffic signal.

Good point... although I was thinking about a leadout rider and not a truck when I posted my earlier message. :)

I guess you never saw Breaking Away, All you need is some cheezy Italian music in the background and a Mac truck to draft behind. With these key elements you can reach 60mph, I really think you should split the cost of the speeding ticket with the truck driver, it is the classy thing to do.

I think a Cinzano truck is required in order to do it in the small chainring though. ;)

Gravity.
The terminal velocity of a man on a bike is approximately 120 mph.
You are not even close at 40.

Enjoy
