I use free. Like some others have said, if I had a HRM or PM, I might upgrade.
I only use it occasionally though. Maybe once every month or two for a benchmark. |

Can any of you tell me how to change the settings in my iPhone so that the screen doesn't turn off and go black a few minutes into my ride? I'd like to be able to look down and see my current speed throughout my entire ride.
Thanks, Steve I found that Wahoo Fitness app drains the battery less than Strava app. And you can easily upload Wahoo to Strava after the ride. |

Back in the iPhone 4 days, it was under Settings > General > Auto Lock > Never.
Might only be good for a couple of hours. Especially if kept bright enough to read on a sunny day. Unless you have an external battery pack.

Change in setting as noted above. But also decrease the brightness as low as you can and still see it. This will save your battery some.

I see several sources that say the screen dimming is tied to Auto Lock settings. Have you tried setting it to Never?
Ex: And, if I turn off the autolock, won't the screen still dim (and then go off) after a while? No, if you set it to never, then the screen will never dim. |

Thanks Guys, but I'm not looking to prevent my my phone from auto-locking, I'm trying to keep the display from going to sleep after a few minutes. I used to use a different App for my rides called BikeDaddy and it has a setting called "Deactivate Sleep Mode." I'm thinking that Strava must have a similar setting, but I've had no luck in finding it. Maybe that particular setting is only available if I go premium.

I suppose a given app could override the lock settings while it's open/running, but I think the more typical way to manage that is in the phone Settings, and moving Auto-Lock to Never. Anyway, I don't see a setting for that in Strava either.

I'm using the premium due to having a power meter.

Been using the free version for 2+ years and just this month did the trial. I ride 6K miles per year, don't worry about hear rate monitoring or seeing how I stack up so I'll probably cancel the premium at the end of the month.
