Urinating while riding
Hey guys and gals,
I know this seems like an odd question (like the sweaty banana) but it's also a valid query. Lately, I've become a fan of riding in the rain. I dress down as to avoid riding in wet clothes and typically ride shorts and no gloves. I wear my booties, my rain jacket and my balaclava with helmet. I figured, this is kinda like swimming, what's the big deal if you are wet and riding a bike, people swim and get wet so what's the difference? Today while riding I had the urgent need to pee. Seeing how I was wet I thought to myself "if people swim and pee inside the pool, why can't I pee now that I am all wet?". So I peed on myself a little while I rode. I didn't necessarily like it but seeing how it was 50F and I was kinda chilly, this helped me warm up a little. I'll admit that I did hose down the bike when I got home as I didn't want that to stick. So, silly question. Have you ever peed while you are riding if you are already soaked from the rain? Does it bother you? Of course not in a group ride! Thanks, Luis |

There seems to be a theme going on here, http://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...et-sweaty.html
If I were you, I'd work on keeping my bananas dry. |
The short bus will be by in the morning to take you to school....

Doesn't the chamois absorb liquids?
|
I just got Forrest Whitaker face.

Just find a remote area and pee

Nothing worse than getting off the bike and getting your cleats full of mud while going to the bushes.

And don't forget, if you really gotta go, pee soaked shoes. I've seen guys pee while riding. It takes some skill and the wind blowing the right way. Another vote for the short bus.

Other than the funny vid, not sure I am fond of these responses...:notamused:

Wet shorts = chafing = saddle sores.
Your next thread will be all about how to prevent saddle sores. |
Urine causes the skin to break down.

Well I enjoyed my brief time here, but I think I'll be going now, due to 'unreconcilable differences.'
|
I have a feeling some have done it but are too ashamed to come to light because of others being judgmental. I hope somebody can back me up because if you really were racing or doing a fast group ride, the last thing you want to do is get off the bike and lose the group. Also, I pee in pools and even in the shower, not ashamed of it. I am sure 99% of us do...

Do you mean wet by urine or wet with any liquid? I ride 3-4 hours at a time in the rain quite frequently and I don't get chaffing.
That's why I (and others) recommend washing yourself and drying well about every 3-4 hours on a long ride ... to wash off the sweat salt. And I guess, in your case, there would be an additional reason. |
For some reason, I'm ok with this haha. You're already wet as hell, you're on your way home, right? I would have done the same thing, instead of finding a Starbucks or anything. If I wasn't heading home, then no I wouldn't have done it.
Peeing in the shower is ok, people aren't supposed to pee in the pool. Definitely would never invite you over to swim. I am starting to see a trend here. |
Unless you are in a race and seriously competing in said race - get off the damn bike and pee!
And, there is no need to go find a bush and get dirt in your shoes. Instructions: 1. Get off the bike. 2. Turn back to road. 3. Pull out your wanker. 4. Pee 5. Put your wanker away - this is very important. 6. Get back on the bike. |

Also, I pee in pools
I think if any of us did that at any point in our lives, we probably outgrew it by the time we were about 3 years old. What you do in your shower is up to you ... but it's just not on to do something like that in a public place like a swimming pool. |
