Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pro team kits without writing ?

I really like the direction the designs of the pro team jerseys have gone this year. Just don't want to ride around like a billboard.
I would buy a jersey like the Trek Factory Team just without any writing and logos.
I could imaging they would be big sellers.

What is the point of wearing a team kit that doesn't say what team it is? What is wrong with riding around looking like a billboard? It the jersey is cheap, it's good. That is what I always say. Just stay away from mirrors, and you won't even notice it.

It's like a secret handshake; you gotta know the colors and pattern.

I dunno. My wife rides a 2015 Specialized hybrid and it's basically in the same color scheme and pattern as the 2015 Specialized Team Sky bikes. Just a little less blue.

Team Sky:

Specialized Sirrus:

Only hers has the same blue forks instead of those green ones.

So it's a little more 'subdued', but definitely lots of that powder blue Team Sky color. I bet she'd wear non-logo'ed Team Sky kit, that just had the colors. If only because it'd match her bike!

Big fan of the BMC kit. Only writing is "BMC." I rock a BMC cap and don't care that people say you shouldn't wear pro stuff. I wear my RG3 jersey (don't hate, please, really, please), why can't I wear my pro cycling team-of-choice's stuff? A little off-topic but relevant to another thread...

Not quite the racing kit, but the non-race Team Sky stuff from Rapha is very nice. I have last season's club jersey which is great, and I have the non-team Pro Team jersey which is great as well even though it does have the logos (blue w/white stripe instead of black w/blue stripe).

For example their training jersey looks quite nice:

I've always liked the FDJ kit. With the exception of 2012 when they had two sponsors (FDJ + BigMat), FDJ has been the only sponsor. The design has obviously varied over the years, but the four-leaf-clover-with-diamond symbol has dominated the jersey since its 1999 introduction, making it close to "pro team kit without writing".

Now that I think about it, the vast majority of my jerseys have some sort of symbol as their main design instead of words. Pro kit: the FDJ four-leaf-clover, the ONCE blind-man-with-cane, the Z Team's huge "Z", and the colored blocks of the La Vie Claire jersey. My non-pro-kit jerseys are the same: heavy on graphics, light on words.

The only sold-color kit I have is a blaze orange rain helmet cover. It would appear obvious I don't like a jersey covered with words, but it still has to be "loud", not subtle. I wouldn't be caught dead in that "plain" Sky kit

Here's Thibaut Pinot 'modeling' the FDJ 2015 kit:

And finally, allow me to give the ArtByOpsal jerseys (an unsolicited plug) special mention. I've got the KOM jersey. When wearing it one day, a motorcycle went slooooowly past me, and the leather-clad rider said something like 'that's cool!' to me.

Like the Rapha.
Just found a jersey from Cuore that is similar to the IAM Jersey.

Funny that this thread started; last week I bought this jersey:
La Vie Claire/Wonder/Radar Retro Jersey - Short Sleeve | Prendas Ciclismo and the matching bibs. As far as I know the quality is tops_ thinking of also getting their Mapei kit. Most of what they have is beautiful and pretty much logo free.

Come on folks, clothing companies sponsor teams to advertise their best stuff. Of course they sell it, and make custom designs for racing teams, LBSes, charity events, etc. There will be multiple price points, but the stuff the pros ride will cost more.

I've got it, too (except my jersey is a stained 1980's original, and my bibs a Chinese knock-off). Goes great with a modern yellow helmet (I've got a mostly yellow/some white Lazer Genesis). Classics never go out of style .

My thoughts as well. If it has no logo's or writing, what makes it a "team kit"?
