Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New shoes

I've have a pair of Sidi Zephyr shoes with about 6500 miles on them. They have 3 Velcro straps and recently I feel that I can not get the toes snug enough. I can feel my toes lifting on the upstroke and pushing on the down stroke. This is causing some discomfort. So i think it's time for a better shoe.

Since I like the fit, feel and quality of Sidi I was looking at their other shoes and the Kaos looks like a nice upgrade. It has a top ratchet with a single wire controlling the toe and middle.

Any opinions?

I'm a Sidi guy as the fit really works for me. I recently replaced my Ergo 3's with the Wire. I find the BOA type closures really snug down the foot without feeling tight. Important for me because I have a hammer toe and if the shoe allows movement in the toebox I start to clench the toe on hard efforts.

Just switched from Specialized Road Comp to Sidi, Carbon Genius 5 Vernice, they are two Velcro straps and a ratcheting top strap. Their Velcro straps have plastic inserts with a matching piece that meshes on the bottom part of the strap, no slipping back.

They fit me right out of the box, a Mega wide sizing is available, if needed, for most models of Sidi shoes. I am sure you'll get a load of recommendations here. Best of luck.
