Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Very light wheelset only costs $400 or less in aluminum. About $500 in Chinese carbon tubulars as light as 1,000 g.

Oh, please. You two are just as much entitled to your own opinion as anyone, just don't assume that I'm declaring mine as gospel whilst ignoring that the very words you quoted represent my ambiguous stance on the matter. I'm simply looking for proof that doesn't appear to be in print.

At least Robert has simply & plainly stated that he just likes the feel of lighter rims better. Cool! I can dig that.

arben.......if I were you, I'd take Comic Elites hands-down (assuming money isn't a problem). Should make you 11 speed complaint too just in case. But then again.... I'm not a scientist.

FWIW, I found a review on some $3K Cosmic Carbones @ Jenson paraphrased all of this foolishness rather humorously......

Like the previous reviewer, I've ridden pretty much everything out there, and all in all, the Mavics are a competent offering, but not stellar. And at the end of the day, we have to face the fact that carbon clinchers exist for almost no other reason than they look fiercely good and sound cool.

Only 1060g Ultra Light carbon wheels 24mm tubular carbon bike road wheelset

I don't know if these are them (I believe there's also a couple China-specific sites that will show them) but I know folks have mentioned dirt-cheap, ridiculously lightweight carbon wheelsets on ebay.

Now, whether the claimed weight is actual weight?? I dunno. Maybe a browse thru their feedback history might tell the tale. (98.8% positive ain't bad for a Chinese joint shipping worldwide but doesn't mean they're not still crap)

thanks for the link. I would get them, but they are tubulars. I use standard tires with beads or folding

You're not gonna reach 1,000 grams with clinchers. I thought I mentioned that I was talking about tubulars.
