Took it out for a couple of miles, felt great but need to make adjustments. 55/Rad |
yeah.... i really think that wheel manufacturers should all have a b/w or simple greyscale version of their stickers available. thank goodness my velomax wheels are just black and white... the red would make my green bike look like a christmas mess!

Nice build.. and nice deal on it too...
lower profile rims with a high spoke count may look nice on it... try it and see how it looks... my $0.02 |
Now, that is a nice ride. Especially for climbing.
I was wondering, was the steerer pre-cut? If not, why did you decide to cut it so short? To save weight? With that high angle stem, I think to keep the symetry, I would have kept the steerer longer, and flipped the stem so it would be parallel with the top tube. Just my personal preferance. Everyone has their personal taste when it comes to that. Plus, it depends on how many adaptable positions you want available. Don't strip the decals on the Rolfs, those are way cool. They just don't fit that particular bike very well. They fit your 5500 much better. I would definitely call AC and get a Shimmy freehub. It only takes like 5 minutes to swap them. Pretty simple. My Rolfs have a couple set screws, and the whole thing comes apart. Really nice. Besides, knowing how you like the climbs, I would definitely convert the Sprints. Then you will have a serious weight weenie climbing guru machine. :) |
Thanks Patriot - and everybody - for the kind words. It's nice to share with people who understand. And I love hearing about everybody elses bikes as well.
As for the stem - it's a personal preference. The frame size is a tad small - which is what I wanted in a climber - and the stem would have required 28 mm of spacers to have a flat appearance. Anything beyond 20 and I start to not like the appearance. So I cut it shorter, went with 10 mm of spacer and a 8 degree rise. Sort of the late 90's look, but I like it. 55/Rad |

I say get the Freehub for the AC350s . Down the road if you really want bling get some Eurus wheels for the Tete. But who am I to talk I can't afford Eurus wheels and the Stuff you have is already really nice. |
