Original owner to this well taken care tandem. Model Decouverte, this bicycle will continue to journey down your chosen path. I paid $850 new; will sell for $750.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5482498b1.jpeg

Cool old bike. Shipping is going to be tough. What is the size? Better pictures would help also!

I’ve never paid lots of attention to tandem rear hubs, but that one looks different than what I would expect. It almost looks big enough to House a coaster brake or even a motor. What is it?
I can understand the seat styles, my wife always wanted a “comfy” seat too.
It’s a great looking bike. Where is it (or) you located geographically?

Hi Slothead. That is a drum brake in the rear hub. Come like that from the factory. The bike is in Martinez, California; San Francisco Bay Area, north of Oakland-Berkeley. Thank You.

We had a Gitane tandem circa 1972. Yes the drum brake rear hub plus the F/R rim brakes was standard. Ours had cottered steel cranks, FYI.

Hi Jimincalif,

Yeah, your description fits mine, except I have alloy cranksets. Hah ! Seems like with all that mass, it needs all the brakes one can muster !
