The shoes are made of "Lorica" which is an Italian made artificial leather. I first saw it in my late 80's (or early 90's) Sidi mountain bike shoes....

To clarify:

The stickers in the pic are new replacements and currently not coated or varnished.

The originals were also vinyl stickers, but had a very yellowed coating (or "varnish") over them....

I have seen pics of the 1983 and 1984 Gios "Professional" frames. It seems that there is conflicting evidence regarding the decals. Some seem to have a very yellowed (so maybe original?) clear coat....
