I am around 270 now. I have ridden road bikes as high as 295, no issues other than spokes breaking from time to time. I just bought the corsa HD wheelset mentioned above, and no issues with them...

700C tires are commonly referred to as 28" in some places, so I would imagine they are standard 700c. But it would be best to make sure they are 622mm as some other sizes are also referred to as 28".

Where is the century you are riding in? The only one I know of in New Mexico in September is the red river one, which I thought was very hilly. Is it in New Mexico or somewhere else?
