Don't over think it. Buy what you can afford. I use alloy bars because they are cheaper and pretty much the same weight. Either way, I would not worry about sudden failure...

Totally agree. And after you inflate with tubeless tires the spokes lose a LOT tension. I'm waiting for a stronger rim from Stans before I build road tubeless again...
