There are workarounds for getting a 130mm wheel into a 126mm frame. It’s certainly easier than fitting a dual pivot caliper onto a disc brake rear triangle.

I have a (cable) disc brake hard tail and cargo bike. They’re fine. My road bikes all have caliper rim brakes. Some even single pivot. They, too, are fine.
