Open Call For Writers

Greetings everyone,

Please don't mistake this thread as a solicitation, or an attempt to advertise another web site.. This is simply an open call for any riders on the forums who enjoy writing/ reviewing products/ but mostly feature columnists or one time article contibutors.

I am editor of a Mountain Bike web site that is scheduled to launch mid December 04 (which I will not name or link here so as to prove this is not a commercial thread) in which the editorial content will be written for riders by riders. No corporate string pulling or unbiased product tests.

We are currently seeking riders with good writing skills interested in contributing content towards the site's launch. Please drop an email and sample to the address below.

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to offer any monetary compensation for works we put up, but we're hoping to give the authors credit and exposure in exchange- email links, URL's, profiles etc. Product reviewers would, of course, get to keep any products tested.

Our long term goal of course is to become a print publication in which the budget situation would certainly change.

Below is our mission statement, just to give an idea of what we are intending with this project:

After having heard the countless waves of complaint that seem to be flooding
the internet about today's crop of Mountain Bike literature on the news stands,
we have decided to take action by offering a more editorial based look at the
sport of Mountain Biking and all of its individualized divisions (trail, cross
country, downhill, singletrack, freeride, North Shore etc.). Here you will find honest
product reviews from riders for riders, monthly feature columns, forums, but
most importantly, an opportunity to speak and be heard.

Unlike a majority of the press currently available, we are seeking writers to
share their own Mountain Bike adventures with the world. MBT is not designed as
simply a showcase for advertisers, but rather a meeting place for riders. So
please feel free to send us your tales, tips, photos, places to ride, maps, or
suggestions for publication consideration so that the Mountain Bike community
can feel your presence. MBT has been crafted not only for riders, but by riders
so that the corporate weight that the magazine industry balances on its
shoulders can give way to the fundamentals of the sport of Mountain Biking.-
Since after all this is really what it is all about.

Thanks in advance.
