BikeForums C&V Ride Information:
When: Saturday morning: 8am. Wheels roll @ 8:15.
Where: Meeting location is at the corner of 3rd and Trinity, "across from Fogo de Chao on 3rd".
Distance: 25.8mi, approx 1550ft climbing. Casual pace - No (intentional) drop.
Best of Austin- 25.8 miles, 1544'. Both urban and scenic, both bike route and wide shoulders on Texas Highways, this may provide the best "sampler" of Austin riding. Sites: SRV statue, Lance's house, Capitol & UT campus (optional 4 mile loop as it's near the end), Hill Country, rolling hills. Climbing grade maxes out around 7% for short distances.
Other information:
- If anyone wants to trade cell numbers with me for contact during the show send me a PM.
- If anyone is interested in grabbing a bite to eat Friday morning pre-show start, send me a PM.
- I'll be posting photos throughout the show to my Picasa web-album. I promise to post links here as soon as the first photos are up.

I'm going! I plan on meeting some fellow C and V friends and enjoying the heck out of Austin. As of now, I'm planning on flying down from Philly.

I can only make the 27th (will be at a conference in A&M 25-26) but am definitely excited. If anyone cares to meet up for a ride or something, let me know. I'd love to say hi to a few C&Vers in person.

Heh - 54-56 for myself, and my friend would need a 57 or so.....
Actually, we could always do a rental - there must be a bike shop or two that would rent a bike for a day.

You're roughly my size, bigbossman (I'm 53 with a long-ish stem). I might know someone with something for your friend.
There's apparently quite a few rental spots (https://bicycleaustin.info/getaround/#rentals). I prefer Yellow Bike over all those shops (not the best LBSes IMO) but they might not have much more than gaspipe. Bicycle Sport Shop probably has the biggest selection (though University cycles won't be bad either). And of course, there's always Lance's Mellow Johnny shop.
I'll try to toss a thread up on this before the actual show so that we can organize any details then?

Not sure if I can make it yet, but if one of the Dallas/Ft Worth guys that's going down has room y'all can use my 58.5 cm Paramount or my 59cm Tommasini Velcista. Also have a 63cm Miyata 1000 if needed also.

I can also bring a pair of bikes down. I'll likely bring the Serotta to ride myself.
The Gazelle A-Frame or AB-Frame is available for someone who may be interested and rides a 58-59cm. The A-Frame is set up with Nuovo Record, the AB-Frame with modern Campy 10sp.

Well, we've got at least one Austin native on the rollcall, so hopefully we can put together a ride for us all one day that isn't going to kill all of us flat-landers from abroad.

Oh, no 17 degree inclined hills for y'all?
No worries, since I can't do most of the super-steep hills either. I've been on two rides down a state highway with an enormously wide shoulder (Hwy 360), and was considering trying that out for an afternoon ride. There's more social options as well if we're so inclined to take it slowly.

Dashuaigeh, we can take them south toward Buda, pretty flat that way. I ride 54cm also and can have two or three bikes I can loan out.

Perfect. I haven't gone south that way before. I'll have either a 53 cm race bike (either a Ciocc or Paramount, whichever my friend doesn't buy this winter) or 53cm Voyageur tourer to lend out if anyone needs (nothing more on myself at the moment)

Holiday - if you do decide to go, we should probably talk. I was planning on flying, but if you drive down, I'd split gas.

Looks like we've got a pretty good roll-call of folks going already. I may start a list of confirmed attendees in the original post so we can keep track of those of us who are going. And I'll probably sticky this thread after bit as well, but so far it seems to be staying well towards the top of the first page on it's own.
