Anybody knows why the wheels ship from Taiwan instead of Singapore? Does he make them in Taiwan? what's the deal?

Does anyone here have the 3.0 with Red Spokes?

Seeing all the reviews here make me wanna invest in them. It's a huge plus for me that they do red spokes bec. I've always wanted a Blk/Red combo for my wheelset.

Standard all black wheels are hand-built and shipped from our facility in Taiwan. This started this year as we are now distributing into some countries and are trying to cope with the demand. Previously customers had to wait 4-6 weeks for wheels which I felt was not the best option. Shipping from Taiwan is also faster and generally from order to arrival takes about 1-2 weeks.

Custom and carbon wheels are still built in Singapore as the demand for them are low and we still strive to serve the custom wheelset market. Those take 4-6 weeks as we are still back-ordered for those.

I have the 2.0 with red spokes, they look pretty similar. Mine are on pg 14

Has anyone ordered the CA 5.0s?

Since i'm relativly new to cycling/racing. Is it possible to order a set of wheels and then take them somewhere and have the hubs changed out to maybe something like shimano or others. I read in other forums where the hubs are not good on these wheelsets. also I read where sean doesnt carry bearing to replace if the bearing go out. Is it gonna be possible to find bearing that fit at a LBS.

Um...where did you hear this stuff? I generally consider those at Weightweenies to have (on average) a bit more knowledge than here and there are several there who have ordered just the Prodigy hubs from Soul and built their own wheels with Soul hubs. They are considered a good value for the cost...much like the wheels. As for the bearings comment anyone that says that is an idiot...there is a page on their site just for bearings...they have direct replacements and ceramic replacements (though Sean doesn't believe anyone needs the ceramics). https://bikesoul.com/2009/index.php?o...d=12&Itemid=22

Also I don't know about your LBS but Sean uses cartridge bearings so you can pick up replacements anywhere that stocks the right size. Plenty of places on the net to buy bearings.

The hubs aren't high end and I've had my issues with them, but they aren't bad. The bearings are bog standard industrial cartridge bearings. If your LBS doesn't carry them, they're available at boca bearings on the 'net. You might also have a local industrial bearing supplier who would carry them.

All that said, if you have a good local wheelbuilder, he could replace the hubs (and probably the spokes since new lengths would be needed). It'll cost you though. Figure the price of the new hubs plus $1 per spoke and at least $40 for labor.

Anyone have info about the new Prodigy hubs? I heard that they are pretty good.

The prodigy hubs that came with my '10 3.0SL are fantastic. Super smooth.

Mine are too, however the bearings aren't enormously well shielded IMO so you have to be careful if you do a lot of riding in wet/muddy/gritty conditions.

i have 2 sets of the old hubs with 3.5k on one set and 2.5k on the other set with only a broken nipple in all that miles

i'm going to be rebuilding my hubs on my S2.0 and C5.0 in the coming week. what type of lube would you recommend?

Sean would suggest you use Mobile 1. I just happen to have 5 quarts laying around from previous cars so I have gone this route and not surprisingly it works quite well.
