Crap! I just bought an XE NOS stem for $135 because I need a 90mm! I guess it's great though that the classic combo of Cinelli quill stem and bars is back!! And, double grooved baby, just like the late 90's version!

Nice, but I always preferred the Mod. 65 bars. Still, it's always good to have more options, not that Nitto has given me a reason to stop using their fine and shiny products...

Interesting that Cinelli bothered to re-issue these 1A stems as there's really not that big a market for them with Nitto already satisfying most demands for many years now. Some company official at Cinelli must be a 70's/80's C&V hardcore fan, or his kid is a hipster that has an eye for these older designs for his SS/FG retro steel bike?.

Giro's are my favourite bars, being a smallish kinda guy who like tight cockpits. I tried the Criterium bars for a while, but not really my thing. No need for the stems though, got most sizes already for 10 euro's on the internet
. Giro bars seem hard to come by though.

I think the primary market is for poor sods like me that gladly fork over huge amounts of dough for (perceived) Italian components. come to think of it, my fixie is the only bike I have with shimano stuff on it, even my SS mountainbike is being converted to Campy atm (it already has an italmanubri cockpit).

I suspect it could be the same with the 1A after a short time back in the market. Maybe the 1R woould be a better stem to re-issue as it was such a signature stem for Cinelli so much more visible/recognizable in all media covering the pro races in the 80's and one that more 80's sport cyclist (including me) longed to have on their bikes, more than the 1A.....

What's your point? I'm just stating there is a market for these. I'm not making claims about how many they'd sell. I can see them re-issueing more classics, or even better, 31.8 handlebars with crit or giro bends!
Also, I do own a new Turbo
I'm not gonna put a Charge Bucket on Italian steel.

1R stems were and still are notorious for the wedges cracking which in turn leads to loose bars. If Cinelli were to introduce the 1R they should go for the death double and re-issue the XA along side it.

I run Cinelli stems/bars on all but 1 of my bikes, and will switch that over, eventually. The price is the price, and I'll probably pay it. The bars fit my hands, and the stems come with the bars, at 26.4....
I think all the new ones are 26.0, but I'm surely not sure.

I have two 1A stems and never experienced the creaking problem. I also have an XA stem, but really like the simple shape and history of the A1 better. It's a timeless design that fits on anything vintage, high or low-end.

BTW, I don't hate the 1A stem. On the contrary I think it's great, .......but it will not catch the attention of most people because of it's "plain" looks. I had a 1A stem on my PSV since l bought it in 1984 (as I needed more room than the original Atax aero stem provided on top) matched up to an ITM handlebar and it never ever creaked on me.....

I think the 1A is the most beautiful, simple, elegant design ever. And the Giro's are my favorite bars. If this is a nod to the C&V folks, I hope they include a non-grooved version.
