Another 26er vs 29er Thread
Yep, like I said before I'm new over here and to the MTB Sport.
It's funny to me all this 26 vs 29 opinions cause in Surfing the sport I've done the last 23 years it's happening a similar thing. In surfing there is a strong trend of Quad boards(4 fins) vs the standard Thruster boards (3 fins).
Nowadays when a customer enetrs a surfshop interested in buying a surfboard the sales persons is very agressive trying to sell the Quads. Similar to what happend to me on Bikeshops 3 months ago when I was shopping around for my bike, every shop started always offering 29ers.
At the end of the day Quads vs Thrusters is a preference. My quiver of surfboards is composed of 7 boards 2 of them are Quads. I used my quads when waves are small because they are faster and when the waves get choppy they work well too. When waves get heavy I used my Thrusters. But this is my preference, lots of people use quads in heavy waves.
I eneded up buying a 29er, never had the oportunity to compare vs a 26er but I cant't complain about it. I like my GF Marlin 29er.
excuse my bad english...

I'm building a 29er for a tour on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route this summer. I'm having issues. The Tubus Swing rack I bought for the front doesn't fit. The fork legs are too far apart. (It fits on my 26" mountain bikes forks though.) Today I tried to hook my Bob trailer up. There's not enough clearance for the 29er wheels and fat tires. Aargh!

One can't have too many surfboards, that's for sure.I had a quad once (or maybe just used a friend's for a while) and it was fun. It rode differently.I finally settled on a shape that, to me, is the greatest shape ever: The Rusty Piranha. Even though it's a computerized mass production shape, it's still American made, Polyurethane foam, and the standard glass job.I ride it with a three-inch trailing fin, and large side fins. It's a trifin, but has the qualities of a quad. Wide tail, triple-wing swallowtail. It paddles like a longerboard and rides like a shorter board.Best shape ever.

26" are more fun, more sporty and more aggressive. Available parts, better parts
29" are more safe - the wheel size helps with cracks, harder to push and may hang you up in technical spots. Heavier, worse hill climb ever.
Really, when I build bikes for the shops around town, I do test them out. When I test them, I find a smile on my face with the 26" and not the 29". I'm a very technical rider, so the best way I can maneuver is the best choice.
IMHO
