If you know where the link to the forum, why do you need to search it on Google???

Plus look at you lin, you are going to an archived section of bikefourms. It is not google, it is the site you are going to.

I can think of several reasons to use Google for searching, the primary one being that the on board search engine here at BF flat out sucks.

Rather than using google, just type www.bikeforums.net in the address bar at the top. Or you can bookmark BikeForums. Works every time.

The thread is from 2006, it's just archived, Google has nothing to do with it.

ok, some of the response in this thread are ********. let me explain it to you guys, i use google, the best search engine, to do searches, so i type in a topic and search, i get a list of results on a lot of different sites that are all very good, now sometimes the first link is the link to a thread on bikeforum and if it is i click on it and it looks like crap and then i have to click AGAIN on the link in the middle of that page to load the full version, now is there a way to load the full version from the getgo?

and btw, if the first site is bikeforum i am not going to type in bikeforum in the address bar and do the search AGAIN in the site just so i can get the site in full mode, that is even more work than just double clicking from google. think before you post ok?

this has nothing to do with archived thread, a thread could be made in the last 5 minutes and show up on google and bikeforum could load the crappy version instead of the full version, is bikeforums hurting in bandwidth bills is that why they are skimping?

so the question stands, is there a way to load the full site from a google search result?

If you're a good programmer you could probably write a script to do it.

Here's the deal. The "live" version of the thread doesn't come up in a google search because the page is generated dynamically via php.

The archived threads are static versions of the thread in its current state at the time of the search.

Both are based on the thread ID number but the dynamic version also has the thread title in it so you'd have to figure out the convention for the thread title. Looks like hyphens replace spaces but there might be a character limit also.

Basically you need to write a script to change:

Code:
https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/index.php/t-220170.html
To

Code:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/220170-Track-drops-vs.-road-drops
I'm not sure what the "t-" indicates on the archived thread, so you might have to figure that out also.

If you're not a really good programmer it's probably easier just doing that one extra click every time you search google.

I suppose the BF powers that be could write a script that automatically forwarded you to the php page but I know for a while the archive pages served annoying popups so it could be an ad revenue thing.

Enough with the rant!

YOUR SEARCH COME UP WITH AN ARCHIVED VERSION OF BIKEFORUMS!

It has nothing to do with google it is the link.
