Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Red bikes are faster

My wife and I went riding in Rock Creek Park in Washington D.C. today, on our 16" folding bikes. (A Dahon and a Bike Friday.) A kid, maybe five or six, out with his parents - all of them with bikes, too - saw my bike with wheels the same size as his kiddie bike, and he said, "that's a cool bike!"

I thanked him, and mentioned that his bike was even cooler. "Because it's red, and red bikes are faster. There's a law." Big laugh!

I gave my RED bike [2005 Dahon S1] to my grandson two years ago!

I do have RED trim parts on my NWT though - does that count???

that's the reason, as per study that Red cars get more speeding tickets than any other car color.

I'm going to put red bar tape on my black Friday. I am assuming that will make it go faster. Maybe I will do red cable housing next.

And all these years I have been mislead to believe that yellow bikes were faster. No wonder I'm so slow.

True, my DaHon Curve is a brilliant (okay, really rather dull) flat finish gray. Not fast at all.

Just got a £400 (approx) speeding ticket and my car is not red. Hate to think what it would have been if it was red..

I need to ride my bike more.
