Have you checked if there is a sports body for paraplegic athletes where you live? If there is, they should be able to provide information plus potentially contacts with paraplegic triathletes. I expect speaking directly with these triathletes will be the ideal source of information on how to get started.

You can check here for some more info:

If you contact them they should also be able to help you with other information you need.

I am just not sure with what discipline they replace the running part for paraplegics. Haven't ever searched for, keep us updated. I have a lot of young paraplegics at my work post-trauma so when the question comes I could give the info.

You can also try the Challenged Athletes Foundation. They offer grants to purchase equipment and also have training clinics.

I am actualy waiting on a backloged grant through the CAF as we speak for a racing wheelchair. I am also going to apply for one for a handcycle.

I have actualy found a custom bike builder that is going to help me with building a custom hand cycle. Here is the link to his website and also there is a section about me on there as well. I ask that you read my bio and if you would like to help out with this project it would be greatly apreciated but if not I apreciate the time and I hope you like my story. Here is the link:

https://swiftbicycles.com/

I am also wondering what are some of the unique things that I need to encorporate into this bike, IE hydration, tools and supplys and any other items that I may need to encorporate into the design. Since we are still on paper things can be changed easier now then later. Any ideas would be helpfull. Thanks!
