Another Raleigh ID? 80s Super Course?

I liked this bike enough to take a chance on a deal. Now, trying to ID the model. Help?

The serial number doesnt seem to jive with what I found in the database online, so trying to figure it all out. Serial is: N2H0415, yet frame has Made In Japan sticker on it. Top tude is lacking any model name, and main tube only has the made in Japan sticker and "The Raleigh" badge in center. No other identifiers like tubing, etc... From scanning some catalogues online, my un-educated guess is its an 80-83 Super Course? But not spot on with the cat. images.

Derailleurs are clearly changed out (suntour mountain tech--when I bought it it was all decked out for touring). Dropouts are stamped "Suntour." Has Technomic stem, Super Maxy crank with Triple. Came with Mavic rims. Having a heck of a time IDing it and trying to figure out what to do with it.

Any guidance is appreciated!

Bikes: Raleigh Supercourse

That is a odd one. Does it say anything at the bottom of the headbadge like Nottingham England, or Raleigh cycle company of America.

Glad I'm not alone in being puzzled. No, nothing under the head badge. Just Says "The Raleigh" like the tube sticker, and like it seems it should from looking at decal guide on the headbadge site/guide for those 80-82 years. In going over it now, I am also puzzled that it has double eyelets on the front fork-- which I can't find in catalogues for the SC around that time. ANy ideas on other places to look for clues? Pics that might help experts out there??

I am guessing by the amount of views to this thread, but lack of a clearer answer, this bike is a bit of a puzzler all around in that Raleigh transition time.

As I have been going over it more closely, actually finding myself more intrigued by the components now. What I had originally taken as a mishmash touring set up, now seems pretty well set up. I had been paying so much attention to the frame, that I had been overlooking, until today, that it has a cool pair of really wide GB rando bars, and even cooler, under those super maxy arms, I had been ignoring a TA cyclotouriste triple, half-step/granny: 48, 42, 26. Very nice condition too.

Soon I suppose I'll figure out the frame and then figure out best plan for what I am going to do with all this.

Bikes: Current 79 Nishiki Custum Sport, Jeunet 620, notable previous bikes P.K. Ripper loop tail, Kawahara Laser Lite, Paramount Track full chrome, Raliegh Internatioanl, Motobecan Super Mirage. 59 Crown royak 3 speed

The bike has very nice and interesting mix of early 80's touring components. As for the frame I'm also puzzled, since its not a RBCA or Nottingham by headbadge maybe Canadian built. Also most American Ralieghs had Raligh pantagraphed on the seat stays and the English ones still had bit of the classic Raliegh wrap around on the seat stays around this time.

Its an 80's reynolds 531 supercourse. I believe they started making them in Japan in 1978.

Bikes: Raleigh Supercourse

At first I thought it was an early 80's SC, but none of the late 1970's early 80's had chrome stays and fork. Also, the serial number doesn't jive with any format Raleigh ever used. I read somewhere that the Japanese made Raleighs were outsourced to Bridgestone. Maybe the wrong frame received Raleigh decals during manufacturing, but that's just a wild guess.

Interesting guess. Wondering if there is any other way to decipher. Would the lug work be a clue? I don't know.

I was thinking the same thing about the non-chromed thing, but then read in the 1981 catalogue and it does say in the Super Course description: "Extras include Christophe toes clips and chrome plated fork..." Did that mean an upgrade? Or what? Plus, don't know if the stays would automatically have been chrome too then? They also came in pearl red that year (which this one seems to be my comparison of color). I can't find an 82 catalogue online (since the 2 in the serial number made sense for that) to know about 82s. But in either case, the fork has the double eyelets which I can't find for any SC around then.

Thanks to you all for the help. So if I never decode the model, what does one do with a mystery frame that doesn't fit me or my wife? Would make for an interesting advertisement to try to explain things!
