Hi folks. I have a frame set I'd like to identify. Lugged steel (I'm told its Columbus tubing), Gipiemme drop outs rear and fork. Seat tube and head tube lugs have triangular cut outs. No engraving, no badges, no decals or logos in sight.

Fork and rear triangle look like original chrome but the body has been re-painted. ID numbers on BB - 7114455 F (it's 55cm so I'm assuming these numbers refer to the size?) toward the front & 6 457 on the opposite side of BB.
Round braze on rear derailleur cable stop.

Seat tube and head tube lugs have triangular cut outs. There is a stamp on the underside of the lower head tube lug (leading to the down tube) but I can't make it out. It looks like three symbols - numbers or letters. Three brake cable stops on top tube. Bottle cage lugs, down tube shifter bosses, dual braze on derailleur cable bosses on BB. 27.2 seat post, English thread 68mm...anything else?

Any information greatly appreciated! What photographs will help?

Pull the fork and see if anything is stamped on the steering tube. Often you will find a date code and a tubing brand marked there.

I didn't see anything stamped on the steering tube before I installed the fork yesterday.

I going to guess that the 3 things you see stamped on the lug is "BCM" for Bocama lugs...cause I think that's the brand of headlug you have.
As for the brand of frame, I have no idea....nothing very distinctive to a particular brand.

Seems like a very strong contender^, perhaps not the exact same model or year, but I think you've put Anamnesis on the right (A-D/Puch/Steyr) track.

Then I doubt tubing is Columbus, or at least tubing on the fork.

My knowledge is too feeble to ID the frame, but I believe I am safe in saying that it is worth hanging on to. If you wanna build a decent bike, the potential appears to be there. It's actual value may remain a mystery, but you could try the sub forum that deals with such issues. I'm intrigued. What does it weigh without the seat tube and head-set?

Sometimes it is faint or even entirely absent if it got trimmed off the bottom for a small fork.

What era is yours?

Chuckk's is a 1983, his has over-the-BB-cable routing and the stop is on top of the chainstay, yours has under-BB-routing and stop on bottom of chainstay (generally expected on a later era frame, but not always). You both have nutted brakes and the same dropouts and headlugs, his has 2 sets WB bosses to your single set (which points to yours being earlier, in this case: conflicting clues!). His smoked chrome versus your standard chrome...by an "All Puch" fork I take it Chuckk's has neither Reynolds blades or anything with a brandname.
Your 2 frames might not have been sold in the same market so specs might differ. Puch was not as common a brand as Austro-Daimler for the "same" products in the US.

I built up the bike with all the parts I had around: Mavic cosmos wheel set, Dura Ace brakes, cassette and chain, Ultegra 9 speed deraillieur (1x9 drive), Sugino Mighty Competition cranks, MKS pedals and clips, Cinelli 1A stem, unknown manufacturer "Made in Great Britain" bars, cheap, funky Chinese (?) brake lever and a Tiagra brifter, Campy seat post and a Sella An-Atomica saddle and an inexpensive Velo Orange headset.

It rides great and doesn't look too shabby. It's smooth, comfortable, solid and responsive. Right off the bat a much better ride than the early 90s Cannondale that I've been commuting on the last four months. Quite happy!

What tubing did the ADs have? I bought the frame on eBay advertised as "early 1980s Columbus steel road frame". I have no idea if it is indeed Columbus. Or Reynolds. Or whatever. The only sure thing is the Gipiemme drop outs.

Whatever kind of steel it is Im digging it and feel ok having paid $100 for the frameset. Plus another $30 for cables and housing...

Generally they used Reynolds (various flavors) on their better frames until later when Bianchi entered the picture and those "Bianchi/Puchs" were generally Columbus.
