I don't know if I'm the only one having this problem; if so it's obviously on my end. I was on BF very frequently for several years from 2009 on, gradually stopping posting so much, partly because a site update nuked all the albums with photos I'd posted, partly because I wasn't paying as much attention to bikes.
Lately I'm back using the forums, mainly C&V, regularly, and I find that the search function does not work like it used to.
I can't use the 'advanced search' at all, as I get an error:
TypeError: Illegal offset type in ..../search.php on line 2099
I had a convo with someone at Internet Brands about this, she suggested I clear cookies and cache, etc etc, but that did no good, and she said she couldn't duplicate the issue.
Without the 'advanced' option, searching for any common term brings up every post that ever had that term used in it. I would have thought that 'thread' meant the term had to be in the thread title, but not so.
I would like to just find answers to questions I'm sure have been asked before, but without being able to effectively search for them, I find I'm going to be asking 'the same question' again. And that irritates regular forum users...including me.
Any suggestions, or condolences, would be welcome.

BTW: My browser is Chrome, on a Mac.

I have the same thing happen when using Safari, exact same error message.

Same thing when using Chrome in iOS.

So it's got to be a site error.

All I want to do is search for posts that have, say, the search term in the thread title. Or the most recent posts using that term. Or that are by a certain forum member whose expertise I trust. Pretty basic stuff.

My understanding is that the BF search has never worked well and it's best to use Google to search BF.

I just was able to get the Advanced Search to work like it's supposed to. How did I do it?

I wasn't signed in to my BF account!

Which makes no sense, but...[shrugs]

The regular search never works for me but “Advanced Search” does. Plan B is Google as above.

Search engines on many of the forums I use are not too good for anything but looking up posts from specific users and other limited things.

Use google or whatever other search engine you prefer. Include bikeforums.net as one of the search terms.

IE: search not working bikeforums.net

Holy cow, so we have the opposite problem! Try logging out, then searching! It's what the pros do! (even the emojis here are lame)
