I knew Velo was on Spring Break and didn't want to tell us -- but the Mardi Gras beads are the giveaway. Please tell us we're not going to see you in one of those "Girls Gone Wild" videos!
Cyclaholic -- amazing stats. You do make the rest of us look bad.
Well I rode yesterday and my wrist was still a little sore. Not so bad I couldn't ride, but it did require a fair bit of one hand riding to give it a rest. But by this morning the wrist seemed fine and I hardly felt it on the ride in this morning. I had a great ride in this morning. For the first time in quite a while I made the door-to-door trip in under an hour including traffic stops, etc. I'm hoping that I won't have too big a headwind going home.
Have a great weekend everybody.

Well after relubing the full bike with White Lithium Grease I was able to do my personal best this morning. I made the 16.87 miles with a clock time af 1h 14 minutes. The roll time was 60.53 minutes. That works out to a 16.59 mph average roll time speed. Now If I'd just quite smoking.... nah, I'm no quitter. LOL
There was a very nice sun set comming home back across the bay bridge. So I had to stop and watch it. even with a head wind of 8 mph and the sun set and all. I still made good time getting home. My clock time was 1h 27m. With a roll time of 1h 10m. That works out to a 14.57 mph average roll time speed. I have to start taking the dig camera with me to get some picture of the sun sets from the bridge. The bridge is 2 3/4 miles across open water. With a head wind that's a killer ride.

Cig, that's good riding you do. Can't wait to see the sunset pictures.
There're no GGW videos, at least not of me. I was there to visit family who've had a hard time of it in the past six months. It was hard to see all the destruction, even six months later. Mardi Gras was a fun distraction, however. Love that city!
I expect to be back on the bike next week--doing my 28 mile round trip commute! Spring is just around the corner. Tomorrow is garden day: peas, lettuce in the cold frame, and a late start of seeds under lights.

No time to post this week due to work, seminars and projects. Biked all week though, conditions mild EXCEPT friday. What a kick ass 30+ mile Friday final ride!! Winds from the NW(thanks Canandians) in the 30mph category. Downhill was even tough. I was spent when I got home, a cold and tired old man.
Velo: welcome back, you Cajun? I rode in your hood with the ranier boyz last weekend
Cycla: You average 17+MPH!!! I can average that on my ride DOWNHILL ride to the train. I don't know how you can do that day in and day out.
Gusboh: You homebrew! I brewed for many years in the 80's to mid 90's. I finally got into kegging it but then stopped. I do want to start again. Maybe you can motivate me. It's all about the yeast and cleanlilness
MDnew Did you change your handlebars?
For those of you that ride 27"wheels, I saw Specialized all condition Armadillos tires at my LBS. I didn't know they made them in 27"X1/4".
Working on taxes in this windy wweather.....I owe I owe It's off to work I go. Very Ugly this year.

Balto -- I agree on Friday's headwinds. Except for the wind it was a great day for riding. I don't know why my wrist got better, but I didn't change handlebars. I took 3 days off the bike and wore a wrist brace on Monday. By Thursday it was passable and by Friday it was fine. Maybe it was the three days off the bike or maybe it was three days of hectic boredom doing a server changeover at work. Don't know, all I can say is that it was nice to be back on the bike.
Velo -- Good to hear you turned down the GGW offers. Its a shame that things are moving so slowly in NOLA and the whole Gulf Coast. We were in New Orleans a few years ago post Mardi Gras but it was still a great time. I hope they manage to get back on their feet without losing the character of their city.
Cigtech -- impressive speeds, even in the flat landscape of Fla that is a fabulous average. Personally I think Cyclaholic catches hold of a passing truck to get his speeds. I am always amazed how much difference a good drive train cleaning and lubing does for my speed.
I dragged my son out for a short ride over to the grocery store this afternoon. Except fot the cold wind it was a nice day for it. Can't wait until things get a little more spring like so we can expand our family riding.

Fun commute home on Friday for me. Strong tailwind for the last few miles (my commute takes a 90 degree turn halfway through). Got the bent up past 20 mph for the first long sustained periods since my surgery. Felt great to be at speed again.

Today I had a head wind of 14mph. So my average speed droped to 14.25 on the way to work and 14.14mph on the way home. I work at Home Depot and due heavy lefting all day long. Then back on the bike for a 17 mile commute. The guys at the store I work at keep tell me to go out for the Olympic team LOL.... I'm 44 years and don't think I can keep up with the young guys any more. Here's a photo of the Techtra Lite.
Also I have a bar graph for the average ride time speed for this week so far.
Oh the Bottom two average speeds are from the MTB I was using.
Enjoy

Well, after another six inches of snow today and over a foot total in the past week, I will be ski commuting to do some work tomorrow. The roads are ridiculous and it will be faster on cross-country skiis than on a bike. Even though I am not biking I don't think it counts as me wussing out from biking but rather choosing a more efficient mode of self-powered transportation to get there.
