most people say that cassette hubs are better becuase you can run smaller drivetrains and the cog/freewhel (or whatever you want to call it) is built into the hub...but if your not going to run anything smaller than a 36-13 then whats the point in buying a cassete hub if you allready have a flip-flop hub that works fine and every once in a while you blow out a freewheel???

Because cassette hubs engage quicker and are higher quality than ****ty freewheels. And also, they save some weight and some cassette's come with three or four cogs so you can change it around anytime you want. I'm hoping on moving up to a cassette hub sometime. Does anybody have any recomedations for a good quality cassette hub(s)?

odyssey or profile or primo are the best...acording to everyone ive asked...but odyssey is the cheapest and i have some Odyssey flip-flop wheels right now and they give me no trouble but i am going to eventually upgrade to the Odyssey cassette rear...$139.99 on Dans COMP

why don't you buy it from your "bike shop"

cause first of all we never sold parts...we just fixed bikes the people had to buy the parts....and second
we are turing the bike shop into just a team becuase we get no buissness...lol

Cassett hubs seem easier to find in catalogs then flip flop hubs, so i would say go with a cassett for that reason, puls there built better, i'm thinkin about getting on my self in the near future.

Freewheels arent *********ty, they work fine and if your not going for lower gearing, who cares about how fast it engages. He's allready got a flip-flop he said. There's not really a point in getting a cassette in his case.

i hate bike shops... Bunch of *******s that try to rip you off with a crappy gt or rip people off 1500 dollars for a piece of junk mountain bike. some one i know bought a jamis durrango sx for $1100 when i saw that same exact bike on a website for $600...

Gets you a wheelset, or maybe a decent fork, but not much in the way of a whole bike.

If a wheel set or forks for an MTB costs that much, i better be able to sex with it.
