Pics of my Raleigh Grand Prix

Here is the Grand Prix I found at a local flea mkt the other day. It is just as I found it except for a good washing and some steel wool. I aired the tires up, lubed the cables, chain, and derailers and went riding. It feels great. The rims are not right. Some of the spokes seem too loose and when you apply the breaks they do alot of skipping around. I was thinking maybe the sides are not true.

Anyway, I am going to replace the steel wheels with inexpensive Weinmann alloys, throw on some new tubes and tires, new chain, and replace the derailers and shifters with old Suntour stuff. Oh, and new brake pads and cables. I will also add a few accessories like a cycle computer, saddlebag, and frame mounted pump.

Thanks for looking. Here are links to pics.

Nice! Looks similar to one I rebuilt/upgraded for a friend. Nice old cottered-cranks there. Hang onto it.

I like it but may have to get rid of it cause its too big for me. I had to lower the seat way down and basically have no stand over clearance. I may keep it though. Maybe I will run across another frame sometime.

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

Make sure you close the quick release on the front wheel properly before you ride it.

Actually, the quick releaseon the front wheel is messed up so I just tightened it down. For some reason it locked in the out position. Its the spring in there thats messed up. Thanks though.

I said in a post above that I may get rid of it cause its too big. I take it back. I am not getting rid of it. The more I ride it the more I fall in love with this bike. I am adjusting well to the size.
