Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Went to a big box grocery store during lunch. Saw what were appeared to be several Eagles fans with carts loaded with snacks and sodas for Monday's game. Either that or they have serious dietary problems.

FYI, the bicyclerollingrestance folks found close to zero RR difference between latex and ultra-light TPU:

"The ultra-light 25 grams Revoloop Ultra, 22 grams Tubolito S-Tubo Road, and 30 grams Vittoria Ultra Light Speed come in slightly behind the 80 grams latex tube when purely looking at the rolling resistance. The difference is incredibly small, and in practice, these might be just as fast as the latex tube as you'll save a good amount of rotational weight."

It was fun. Fast, scenic, constantly rolling but not grueling, and this old climber has-been grabbed the Yorkshire KOM jersey with a mere 3.8 W/kg effort.

I got one of the Sprint jerseys one day, I forget which sprint. I hadn't gone all that hard, but apparently timing is everything - the previous #1 had just timed out.

Bummer. I am sure you know, but you should isolate for 5 days (starting from symptom onset) and then mask additional 5 days to reduce spread.

Most people feel much better by day 5.

It's probably placebo, but I recall seeing (GCN?) that the TPU tubes are a bit more "harsh" than the smooth feel of latex.

I do want to try TPU tubes, maybe this summer. I always use butyl in the off season and had been using latex for summer the past few years.

latex with high TPI tires does feel quite nice.

So true. Before we know it, Mavic wheels will be living like vermin in our favorite bike shops.

Don't say that out in the General forum. You'll get folks insisting that you can't possibly feel what you're actually feeling.

I rode Stage 2 of Tour de Zwift last night, again opting for the B ride of 20 miles vs the A ride which was 29. I found a group that became either the 3rd or 4th group on the road. My position varied between 95th and 120th, but as the group distilled down it hovered between 100 and 104. I tried not to be TOO much of a dick - pulled the group a couple times including using up an Aero power-up just to be a nice guy. But I find on Zwift that whenever I get to the front there's always someone who wants to be ahead of me. So I let them - not gonna kill myself just to work harder! About a "mile" from the finish line, I decided to spin up to 300w and see if I could carry that the rest of the way, and that worked. I think maybe two riders came around me but one of them faded so I ended up 101st (IIRC) on Zwift, though it shows up as 69th on ZwiftPower. I thought about sprinting at the end but it was all I had to just cross the line at 300+watts.

I was so gassed I basically hung my head and closed my eyes while slowly spinning a low gear for about 3 minutes to get my HR down below 100 again.

Power-wise, 2/3 of the ride was Z3 or above, and HR-wise 92% was Tempo or Threshold. Seemed to me like a really hard workout, but Strava says it was a Training Load of only 68, and my HRV this morning is 8.7 - Proceed As Planned. So far, it's never told me "Take it easy!"

I'll take a look.

I don't even see that anymore. I always assumed he was protesting against any fake veterans who may claim they have service but never really served. He may have had run-ins with some. Who knows, too late to ask him now.

Done.

Studies suggest that if you are negative 4 days after onset, you don't have it.

I still think there is a decent chance I have covid, will test again tomorrow. My symptoms just started overnight so it may be too early, although I am confident I have a decent amount of viremia as we speak, it is not pleasant.
