@sheepdog84 That looks like a really fun bike... and I am very fond of the bare steel look of the Firefly.

Though what headset is that? I love the splash of pink.

Edit: I suppose I just should have visited the PedalRoom page for the bike before bothering you with needless questions. I also really like how the headset complements the inside of the fork.

Great minds: I was thinking pink rear derailleur housing, I like your idea better.

I think the pink distracts from the beautiful, minimalist look of the bike, like putting pinstripes on a Porsche.

Then again, it isn't my Porsche so I'm happy for @sheepdog84 if he likes the bike. It is beautiful. How much does it weigh?

The eggshell finish on the wall is proper too.

I think it is interesting that you see it as pinstripes... I see it as far, far less garish; perhaps I am wrong. To me, it is like a pink steering wheel (I don't know anything about cars): Something that is only noticeable to those who are paying close attention, and therefore a hat-tip to those of us who are paying attention.

No one is ever going to find this bike obnoxious, though bike nerds are certainly going to appreciate such a notable nod in their direction.

@50voltphantom I would have totally gone with a pink seat post collar, but I couldn't find any I liked in the correct size (28.6mm).

I suppose I'd need to get one custom anodized, etc.. unless someone else knows where to source onedifferently. For now, I have a black one on the way, as the silver one bugs me for some reason

I took some time with the build by cleaning all my used parts by hand. I just wanted to keep it simple and not rush anything.

It definitely paid off - best bike I've ever ridden.
@TimothyH, I think it weighs somewhere around 16-17 lbs. but I haven't officially weighed it yet.

Yeah, it's noticeably heavier than the carbon I used to ride, but for my kind of riding, comfort is way more important.

thank you for the kind words @ethet!

This is the kind of bike you will enjoy for decades.

Love the "Keep it simple" look. Outstanding. Congratulations.

Old Treks are NOT ugly. The 400 is a low-end model, but all the Trek frames were solid and well built.

^^^ Lovely frame, but your brifter position on those bars is driving me nuts.

Previous owner did not take good care of it, scrapes along the forks and all over the frame. Totally fine for me cause I won't feel so bad if it falls over
