Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Thank you. To me, it is a very fast bike, faster than the rider is capable of. 48:15 gearing and it is in the upper 16lb range.

No kidding. There's just so little to put together. The slowest part was the stupid brake cable inside the handlebar, even the bar tape was faster. It helped that the headset was already installed, and the BB shell was already chased and faced. The external bearing cups make the cranks and BB fast, too. I have an appointment with my LBS tomorrow (Well, Wednesday) to take measurements and cut down the steer tube and seat mast, then it'll be "done"

That moment of nervous excitement when you start pedaling it for the first time...

The bike is super nice. I hope the ride is everything you want it to be.

Do you like riding this on the street? Absolutely love mine, of course, it hasn't been on a track yet so I cannot compare.

With the right setup, yeah. As it sits now it's fun to zip around on for short distances, but anything more than an hour of saddle time gets uncomfortable. I'm thinking I might throw together an alternate cockpit with some hoods that I can switch to for road rides on it.
