Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any epic rides planned? All I can do now after work are short, dark MUP rides. It beats the basement trainer torture.

I never see it since I don't watch the NFL. I'm ok with that. Boise State is handling the C. State Rams quite nicely on the smurf turf. 52-21 with 5 min to go in the 3rd Q.

A friend just invited me on an 80 mile ride this Saturday. There is a nasty climb near the end, but the rest of it is nice and the weather should be fine.I haven't decided, I might wuss out.

That sounds epic. I have no specific plans but it won't be 80 miles and it won't involve much elevation gain. I avoid that as much as i can.

I might try riding the MUP out in the sticks on Saturday. it's nice out there but i ride closer to the congested part most of the time. If I do go out that way I'll take some pics. I usually don't stop but maybe I will if I see anything interesting. Last week I saw a flock of turkey's (not Seagulls).

It's past my bed time, I'm cashing out.

Here is the overlook before descending to the small town for lunch.

Then lunch and turn around. 5500 feet of climbing with a tough one near the end.

Same. I never met a pack, or three, that I wouldn't smoke.

I worked with a guy who chewed and didn't like cigarette smoke. He kept trying to get me to chew so I tried it one day on a job. After a few minutes, I lit up a cigarette, while chewing.

So remember a couple weeks ago when I posted that one German metal folk band? Letting my freak flag fly that's where I tend to go (German rock).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtsNv2Hh0Qg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-PZMqSdpdo

That second one is particularly timely, being about rumors spreading easily and creating a druglike urge for more.

So, LSS shared my bike spending numbers for the past few years with me. Not a cheap sport, but not the most expensive either.

Should we discuss numbers or is that bad manners?
