Forgot to update this. Changing the warning names works nicely on the Edge 500. My only problem on the short course I tried was the warning points got messed up and showed up right at the intersection but it may have been me forgetting to click on "Warn xxx ft before the turn". I don't want to set it up too long that it will start showing warnings for two-three turns ahead (if the distance between two or more successive turns is less than the warning distance specified I mean), and I don't want to set it up too short so that I'm having to brake hard for every turn, so it will take some time and experimenting I guess.

As a rule of thumb, after how many turns are you splitting the course into separate sections?

I use both toaster and ride. Toaster for the turn warning when I map a new course. Ride has turn by turn but no warning, usually after I make my turn it will tell me to turn, I need to know this before hand. Ride is easier to map courses.

I have been using toaster even since I got my 305. It is really cool and truly replaces a cue sheet. The issue is that Garmind devices has that 100 course points limit so sometimes you can 't really have every turns built into the route. But toaster has an advantage over RideWithGPS is that you can choose to add/delete cource points as you build the route. So for turns that you are familiar with you can skip the warnings; of course, if you are off course it will warn you either way.

While we're on the topic, is there a good site for pulling up already created cue sheets for awesome rides in your area? Maybe you can do this with toaster, I don't know.

I remember back in my mtn biking days, there used to be trail reviews with location of the trails and descriptions that users could vote on on mtbr.com. Was a great system.
