I am at work but our corporate office is still without power from the recent storms. That means incoming phone calls don't come to us, they go to the service and the service calls us. Our electronic medical records system and scheduling system are inaccessible. I am going to be seeing some patient by telemedicine and in the office, hopefully not too many, but getting test results etc. can't happen.
Don't like.

Sigh... bike tipped over and front spokes landed on the pump base. Spokes seem to still have tension, but I suppose I should see if the shop can take a look at it.

Huge clap of thunder shook the building's windows. I find morning t-storms strange.

Car update, recall my 18 year old bashed into a big log and bent the front passenger wheel on the 2007 Odyssey Minivan. We actually do have collision coverage on the car, which I think is worth about $4500....estimate from body shop to repair is $3500 and insurance company "thinks" the actual cash value of the car is $3200 so they just want to total it out and pay us the 3200 minus our deductible of $500.
I am thinking we could get the body shop to do just "necessary" repairs to get the car working and screw the superficial/cosmetic damage for something a bit LESS than 3K, and the last thing I want to do is go car shopping during a pandemic.
I have to be an intermediary between body shop and insurance company and hope we can agree to get the car fixed somehow.
Suggestions?

So after calming down with a walk, I spun the front wheel and it appears to be spinning perfectly true. Is it likely good enough to get through the weekend, or can spokes be detensioned without visibly affecting true?

I expect you are fine. Try plucking each one to ensure they have roughly the same tone. If it's true and the tones are consistent, you are probably ok.

If the wheel stayed true, you are just fine. I put my bikes through some hellish times, and I trust the builds, even if I do them! There is no way a spoke can be detensioned without the wheel showing it. Low spoke builds.....

"Roughly" - there are some that differ maybe between a "twing" and a "twong" but nothing just dead. Guess I'll carry on for the weekend; it was going to get a retune next week anyway when I go back to the trainer for a while during the week. Thanks guys!

EDIT - this is what happens when you reply to a comment before reading down the thread.
I'd look carefully for any nicks on the spokes that took the hit. They might be tensioned okay but have a weak spot.

Sorry, been away ,working on hot rods. Helping my parents. And occasionally riding my bike. And working when I can't avoid it.
Been driving my Firebird to and from work for a couple weeks now. 5 years building this thing. It's coming along. The tune is being persnickety, but its getting better slowly.
Going to start ordering sterio components for it shortly, which is convenient....since I blew the front speakers in the Camaro.
