went down a bit of Chick Corea rabbit hole while working today and discovered this album w vibraphonist Gary Burton who I'd been into for a while. It was a fun listen while chugging away at desk work. Thought I'd share this cute final track on the album:

I sold my size large Trance in October, and bought my XL of the same bike in middle November of last year. Today was only the third time I’ve had a chance to ride it since then.
Weather has been garbage all winter and with short days and working my M-F job plus most Saturdays at the bike shop means if weather was bad on Sunday there just hasn’t been an opportunity.
Managed to get out to the local mountain for the first time in a long time today. As I expected my technical climbing skills and short burst power have deteriorated from marginal to almost non existent, plus being on a larger bike I haven’t ridden much it was pretty slow going up.
The big bike was much more composed going downhill on fairly technical stuff though! Much easier to maintain good body position through chunky turns, and drops felt a lot more stable.
Set multiple descending PRs when I didn’t feel like I was pushing all that hard.
Fun times!

Just learned of 250 mile gravel race about 4 hours away from me. Technically it’s a 4 day stage race but you can run it without stopping. 38,000 feet of climbing. The guy I posted yesterday has done it before without stopping, I really want to do it with him.

You could use it for enduro at amateur level but enduro bikes have longer travel and are like mini downhill bikes. It's hard to classify some bikes because there is so much crossover and so many combinations are sold.
You can use about any bike for trail riding but you wouldn't want to take an XC bike to an enduro race.

have a crossing similar to this in our area - but tracks are a tad higher / more exposed - gotta square up or it could get ugly

I don’t typically have crossings at grade anywhere I ride except for a couple of roads. One at the base of a good climb and the other where everyone drives like dinks.

The ones like that in Harrisonburg, Va all have a turnout, to cross at a right angle. All of our new (brand new) train crossings are overpasses. The Maya Train officially opens the first of March. This past week all trains that I have observed, and the two I have ridden, have all been on time.

I am going to return to buying CST tires exclusively. That’s what I rode before I began experimenting with ‘fancy’ tires. They now have one with flat protection in it and, as little as I ride anymore, it’s nice to have an affordable, locally sourced option. Of course I still have a pile of UltraSport II to work through. No flat protection whatsoever.

There is an addiction program/house near here that puts on a ride every year. Before the first turn there is a set of tracks very similar to those in your photo. The people running the event warn the participants multiple times about these tracks, give tips on safely crossing them. Maybe 5 years ago a woman hit those tracks and went down so hard they had to fly her out on a helo. Think it was a head injury.

Wife’s procedure went well, her eye pressure is lowered to single digits now. She’s on the long path to recovery, meanwhile my cataract procedure is next week and I’m hoping she will be able to help me if I really need it. My recovery won’t take near as long as hers, but still I’m concerned.
