RFC, Basically I have to go with a previous poster; if it's not shapedand padded like the standard Flite, it's not likely to be comfortable on my road bike. My touring bike, for one reason or another is more forgiving and even an OEM CODA (which wasn't too bad on a road bike) saddle works pretty darn well. I'm testing an old Serfas saddle on it now to satisfy my curiousity, so far, so good.

The hardest bike to match a saddle to was my mountain bike. I finally tried the Fizik Nicene that failed as a road bike saddle and it was perfect and the color match was a nice side benefit. Just goes to show that an ass hatchet's problem may also include it's application.

The saddle I miss is the Avocet Touring II that my older daughter claimed as her own with a "I'm going to get it when you die anyway." attitude.

It was great, later my club mates kept wanting me to switch to a padded saddle as they could not believe I found it comfortable.
The deal with saddles is everyone is different.
That said, even a saddle I find comfortable today, hurts for a week or two if I have been off the bike for over a month.
+1. My experience is that it is more important to condition the backside than to condition the saddle. I have ridden my new Brooks Team Professional 1,000 miles and it is no more or less comfortable that my first ride on it. I guess it is just a fit for me. No plastic saddle has been able to cut it, leaving my bee-hind raw.

One that breaks while in use.
