SM600 26/24 "Big little" - 1985 All original except for upgraded rubber
I sold this one, partially because it never quite felt like a comfortable ride for me, mainly because it was nearly flawless suvivor and I tend to beat on MTN bikes. Went to a guy who runs a vintage MTN bike group.

Here is my 1984 Trek 850 that I picked up a few years ago It’s on the small side, but a very comfortable bike. ![](https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikeforums.net-vbulletin/2000x1504/0371f85c_701e_4d92_8b1a_be3c0ab929c5_25f84523b636f79ccfa281bc99fc58c958c883e0.jpeg)
Here is another cool old find I picked up in Idaho last month. I’m selling off the Shimano parts and going suntour.

Without bothering to check the catalog, I think you are correct about the color name. Not sure where I got Purple Freak from, but it may have been an '80s Cannondale color that got stuck in my memory circuits.
We sold Cannondale and Lotus 'back in the day' and both companies seemed to be in competition to choose the most outlandish colors for some models. There were always a few people who loved a particular color, but more often prospective customers would avoid a particular higher-end model because the only color scheme in which it was offered was too wild. Schwinn and Cannondale also tried various spatter paint jobs that were equally polarizing. Almost everyone seemed to love the paint jobs that would shift with the light, like this one, but those were rare. Some people like to slather their bikes in stickers, while I tend to sit with the ones who prefer a deep, flamboyant paint job like you might find on a Hetchins, or a 1970s Raleigh.

Decent frame and crank. Everything else is a mish-mash of parts. Looks like whoever you bought it from only had the frame and threw on whatever they had. Congrats though and enjoy!

Looks like a bike co-op build, though a decently thought out one. I’ve bought a few that had very very odd part choices, but was really just buying them for the frames.
