Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Front wheel is at the shop getting some love, and some replacement spokes and nips. Phenom saddle installed. Love it.

Noice. I just came from the "What don't you like about my bike" thread. I apologize for the harshness.

WOW, you guys have the nicest bikes!

Hi, long time lurker, new to SS/Fixed gear bikes.

Just got this super cheap ($120, probably unsafe, all generic parts of very low quality) SS/FG bike. Well, it's just something to test the waters, and I use it 2-3x a week for a 20min-25min bike commute to work. I dont know all the specs on this bike, but I know that it has a chromoly frame, and I got a drop bar to change the very ugly handle bars that came with it. I dont even know if this bike is worth posting here.

the brand is SGM. Probably from china or taiwan, whatevs..

Dont worry, Ive been doing a lot of reading, and learning a lot, probably my next bike will be as good as yours.

I also raised the seat saddle, the ride feels a little wonky.. unstable. there's probably a million things wrong with it. but it's my first, I gotta start somewhere.

I'll probably upgrade the rims and tires, and then the crankset and saddle. but oh well.. biking is fun. :-)

How many All City's is too many All City's? I think my Big Block needs a Nature Boy next to it.

I wouldn't worry about upgrades, I'd just ride it into the ground and save your pennies for a new bike. In the meantime, read and take in as much as you can, learn to do simple maintenance, etc.

N+1 All Citys is the right number.

I just got a Krampus, but would drop it in an instant for a JYD to go with my Nature Boy and Space Horse.
