Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nope, my Domane has a removable bridge and straight seat stays- no need for the doglegs. They're for what I thought they were for -

I see. Mine must have been designed for vertical pile driving and lateral heat generation.

Ok, then. It's not a good look, regardless. I would agree with a previous poster about the blue paint job.

It could be worse (*cough* Canyon Grail *cough cough*). I don't love the look, but it doesn't make it an instant 'Not' to me and it wouldn't keep me from buying one if I liked everything else about the build.

I like the bike, but that paint makes me want to hurl.

I'd much rather have the stock blue frameset.

The first pic was in a basement. The more I look at it, the more “off” the color looks. It’s actually a fairly bright orange. I know a lot of people still don’t like the orange, but it’s my favorite color and also my team color. Here is the only daylight picture I have so far.

The levers arent a good look, but oh well to those. Shimano designed some fugly hydraulic STIs that someone should be fired for.
I like the paint combo- fades are always awesome! And its really cool that you pulled a relatively rare brand across the pond.
The 725 CGR was a brief consideration for me when I was looking at a new gravel frameset last summer, but the geometry wasnt right. Since I only ever looked at the steel model, I didnt notice that the carbon version has that seatstay bend. Its...interesting.

Anyways...because its a really good value, is a relatively rare brand stateside, and has a fade- hot.

You're right the color is different outside. It doesn't look like the smokey gold/black Harley combo I thought it did, but I still like it. Way back when I had a Signal Orange Porsche 914 and like you, always liked the color. Good luck with your new bike!

I like the orange/ black color scheme, but not the fade. The bike looks good, and the brake levers are fine. They certainly look better than SRAM or Campagnolo hydraulic levers.

Gravel bike or all-rounder? I agree that those Shimano hydros look not so clean. Oh, my SRAM tower of power hydros are also a bit over the top (sorry) but you know, once you end up riding a bike, you don't even notice this stuff anymore.

On the Ribble, is it set up with right lever front brake?

Ah! I thought about that but didn't see the hose coming out of the caliper, either. I see now that the hoses are kind of tucked inside the fork on the current gen - you'd think that I would have known that, having just installed them

It would have been nice if they would have used a fork without an upper hose drilling, though.

Um, cause the dude called it a gravel bike, and it's got fully hidden cables and dropped seatstays?

Aero bikes are aero because they have aero features, not because they have a decal that says 'aero'.

I'm surprised to learn that the hassle and expense of full aero cabling is now thrown in just for aesthetics...
