And I use a luggage scale to weight tanks of propane to get a better idea of how much is left.

I spent a few years wringing my hands about parts and frame and fork. Then I started putting together the pieces. It took a long time to do it right but I built my 2009 Cervelo R3SL exactly the way I wanted it. No compromises on WW parts that would break and be short lived. The bike ended up 13.18lbs and was ****ing awesome. Years later, I no longer have that WW urge, but that R3SL is the sweetest bike I own. And I own a lot of bikes - steel, aluminum, magnesium, and carbon.
If you are an avid cyclist, rec cyclist, or racer, it is far more fun to ride a stiff, comfortable, light bicycle. It responds quicker, it corners better, it accelerates faster, it does everything as good if not better than the others. It's the kind of stuff that puts a smile on your face and you realize why riding a bike is so fun. If you've never experienced it, you can't discount it. You don't know what it's like, and if you did, you would think it was fun.

I covet a Sportsmobile. I've mentioned it to my wife and she doesn't disagree it would be fun to do in retirement. 4x4 Sprinter with the Penthouse Top. Hot.
