For example, mowing--should be simple, right?
Yesterday I did the tough effort phases (push mowing, weedeating) first and got roasted by the pre-winter sun. I don't care what the thermometer says, 10 a.m. - 1p.m. is the hottest part of the day. There were clouds overhead but weirdly none of them ever seemed to cover the sun.
So when I get on the tractor, then it decides to cloud over. Half way through a thunderstorm hits. It has to rain sometime, so that's fine. But being a rational person, I want to finish all the mowing in one session. I went under cover for a quick snooze while I waited for the storm to pass.
Wake up 45 minutes later and the storm entered a zombie phase. There continued to be rumbles of thunder, annoying light rain, even as there were substantial patches of blue sky not far from overhead. It literally rained another 15-20 minutes after the sun came out.![WTF](https://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/wtf.gif)
tl;dr yesterday the weather conspired to make Velo Vol's mowing difficult.

Best DIY solution I've seen is an approx 2x3' coroplast lawn sign with a hole cut out. Installed over a standard ball cap and secured with duct tape, this guy was walking around with six square feet of personal shade.

Pretty sure that if it's wide enough for Campy, it's wide enough for Shimano11 and you just need the right freehub body.

This is a parkway that follows a creek on the left side of the frame - yeah, there are some fairly expensive homes along there, most of them older with good character.

Don't worry about me either. My friends are not knackered, but I am, after hill reps on Tues and basically 90 min at threshold yesterday. Tomorrow, we're going sailing. On Sunday maybe I'll feel like throwing my leg over a velocipede again.

AG and I were just watching Jeopardy (rough day for me on it, but Final Jeopardy came to me right at the end). I only bring this up because one of the contestants was from the Football Fail day, and AG asked what it was so I showed her. She was laughing so hard it looked like she was crying.

Good thing, I suppose, is that if I wind up needing a bike I can always just take the opportunity to get a metal bike welded here. Assuming everyone gives up instead of just flooding those framebuilders with requests.
